This listing details a selection of small, rare Billitonite Tektites. Each stone is labeled in the photos with an item number that corresponds to the drop-down selection menu. You will receive the exact stone selected.
These incredible, natural glasses were formed by the processes of a meteorite impacting with the ground, fusing particles of sand and trace metals. The force of these objects throw droplets of this molten material high into the outer atmosphere. The droplets then rain back down to earth. This event (known as the Australasian Impact) happened approximately 780,000 years ago in the Bay of Tonkin. Tektites from the Australasian impact are scattered throughout China, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and as far as Australia; however, Batu Satam are very special and rare to find. What makes Billitonite tektites particularly special is their distinct lustrous surface, and intricate spiral/U-shaped patterns. Batu Satam, or Billitonites were discovered in alluvial shafts by tin miners. This gives a clue to their unique scrolling patterns and glossy luster. The process of vitrification, cooling, and then reheating upon reentry causes cracks within the glass droplets (imagine pouring ice cold water into a hot glass). After the tektites have landed and become buried over time, these cracks are then exaggerated as acidic-tin laced water trickles around them in the ground.
The locals of Belitung Island revere Batu Satam. These amazing stones hold a special place, and are thought to help us purge ourselves of ills. It is also said to help protect from negativity. They are rarely found, and very difficult to source. Small stones like these, in particular, typically stay in Belitung. They are perfect size for jewelry. Most of the specimens in this listing were planned to be mounted in pendants and rings, or made into beads for bracelets. We feel so fortunate to be able to offer these amazing stones. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the specifics of this listing.
There is a 1cm cube in the main photograph for size reference. As with all natural products, some stones may have small chips, damage, or imperfections. None of our stones have been oiled, lacquered, or altered in any way. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for looking.

Standard shipping is the most economical method- First Class Mail through the U.S. Postal Service. This does not come with guaranteed tracking to the destination. The package usually scans and updates within the U.S. however, international tracking is not available. It is the buyers responsibility to understand all shipping/customs policies in their country.
We offer many shipping upgrades which include tracking and insurance upon request. Please contact us to customize shipping options (such as signature confirmation and added insurance) or select 'Tracking and Insurance' as an upgrade to Priority mail.

I ship through USPS First Class Mail in order to offer low cost shipping. Unfortunately, this service is highly variable on shipping times, and is inconsistent in tracking international. Typically packages can arrive anywhere from 10-30 business days or longer. Although First Class is my default shipping method I highly recommend upgraded shipping for express shipping times, guaranteed tracking, and insurance. Please contact us with any questions you may have or to request the use of Fed Ex or UPS services.
We can customize according to just about any request. Feel free to contact us in regards to combining shipping or to request custom parcels, specialty orders, or whole sale availability.
Safe and responsible packaging is one of our main priorities. We package every order carefully inside a high quality reinforced shipping box. Each item is wrapped individually in fresh paper towels and bubble warp. We appreciate you recycling and reusing our package material in order to keep our carbon foot print low.
