Huge Colombianite- Valle Del Cauca, Colombia- 314.3 Grams- Amazing Slightly Flattened Egg Shape, Collectors Piece, The Ember- Translucent

This listing details a beautiful extra large Colombianite from the Cauca River of Colombia. This Particular specimen is incredibly translucent for its large size. Large stones, such as this, take brighter and more direct light to become illuminated. This stone illuminates when brightly back-lit and glows a red/amber from within. Many of the deep textured ridges appear black while the interior of the stone is lit- giving this Colombianite a very unique appearance similar to a burning ember or coal. The round, egg like shape makes this specimen perfect for holding in the palm or cradling between two hands. Ideal for meditation and reki practices, Colombianite is said to clear negative energy and illuminate areas of the shadow-self for healing.

Originally found by the Muisca Tribe, Colombianites are referred to as "Piedra Rayo" which translates to "Stone of Lightning" or "Light Stone". The origins of these beautiful gems are still being studied and fully understood.
The main theory claims that these are a unique form of weathered obsidian. In this model, these stones are the ancient remnants, or 'hearts' of grandfather obsidian boulders. The last remaining gems of their 'species'. Natural glasses which have gone through many states of decomposition and recompositing over millions of years.
Others theorize them to be an impactite glass- fused in the fires of a meteorite impact. They have even recently discovered a crater known as the Cali Crater. The Cali Crater is located in the Cauca Sub-Basin between the Western and Central Colombian Cordillera, SE of Cali. Some researchers claim chemical analysis of these amazing glasses show higher than usual levels of Aluminum and Titanium as well which further support the theory. They call these tektites Calitites (after the Cali crater), and estimate their age somewhere around 3 million years old (the Pliocene Age).

Regardless, they are beautiful stones which represent the forces of wisdom and transformation. Millions of years old, their energy is calming, empowering, and transformative. They are truly ancient, mystifying, and wonderful.
